Italy requires environmental labelling on packaging — material identification using the 97/129/EC codes plus a disposal instruction naming the waste stream. CONAI publishes the working guidance, and the information may sit behind a QR code provided the pack signposts it clearly. As an EU market this also sits under the EU packaging regulation, whose first requirements began applying in August 2026 and which will progressively replace the national marking schemes.
